If you don't mind a bunch of extra miles, you can take 840 to the west at mm 176 on I-40, then back east on I-40 to mm 204 and take Briley Parkway (SR 155) around to I-65. But if you are going to do that, you might as well sit tight somewhere further south and then come straight on through an hour later.
Other option is 440 west to 40, which puts you at about mm 206, then out to mm 204 and pick up Briley Parkway there. But the 440 junction with 65 can clog up pretty bad. Once you get past there, Briley Parkway is your ticket up to I-65 and avoid downtown.
Check Waze or Google traffic before heading through. Also some of the local TV & radio stations give traffic reports, although their suggested routing is sometimes odd.
Thanks this is the information I was searching for - coolmom42Explorer IIIf you don't mind a bunch of extra miles, you can take 840 to the west at mm 176 on I-40, then back east on I-40 to mm 204 and take Briley Parkway (SR 155) around to I-65. Bring your patience. I have been stuck in rush hour traffic in that fine city pulling my 30 footer before and while traffic moves, it moves slowly. You'll be fine.
- USAFBILLExplorerI don't have the option of what time I will be going through that area..I do know that there are a couple of alternate routes instead of straight thru on I-65 and that was my question. Some construction is always going on in that area also..
- I agree with ADAD437....wait until after 9 then go straight through. The best timing would be to not pass Saturn Parkway until 9:00, which is at the southern boundary of Williamson County. You would then be passing through Franklin and Brentwood after most of the rush hour has subsided, and through Nashville itself at a decent time.
- ADAD437Exploreri wouldn't go thru until 9 local time, then straight thru. that would put you thru louisville about 1-1:30 local time then straight thru there. indianapolis about 3:30 local time. straight thru or around indy either way is good last i knew. oops sorry didn't read close enough, senior moment. ignore indianapolis coment.
- 2oldmanExplorer III would think 8am in any large city would not be a good idea. I'm sure there are traffic flow maps you could check first.
