Navajo Nation
Last year we went from Denver to Moab and then to St George and south to Big River/Parker. This year we may be in Moab again so I'm wondering how people feel about going south through the reservation...

This post is ridiculous. If you feel you have to be constantly looking over your shoulder then don't go. Don't go to Chicago and any other city either. You probably wouldn't want to drive along the Mexican border either.
The Navajo are wonderful people. We've toured the reservation areas often. We stopped in a town that had a ceremonial dance celebration going on. I believe we were the only non-Navajo at the celebration. The people around us were proudly explaining the whole ritual to us. We were interviewed on their local radio station. We received welcoming smiles the whole time.
Regarding guns, do your state law checking out. We don't carry and never felt the need to do so.
