Need suggestions planning trip from So-Cal to Oregon

Heading to our sons wedding in July and would like to know what types of road terrain to expect (specifically mountain passes and grades) in order to determine travel times.Plan to take 4 days traveli...

I would loop the trip and enjoy the entire journey. 395 north, 36, 44, 89, I-5, 97 to bend. Then get over to coast, take 101 down....... All the way to LA.
