Nevada 93

Is anyone familiar with Nevada 93? We are thinking of using it with our truck and fifth wheel. Any information will be appreciated.
  • We use 93 going north for the summer, south for the winter. Excellent 2 lane road. I don't know where you want to get on but we use it from I-15 (North Las Vegas) to just north of Alamo. Jump on RT 318 to US 6, then US 6 to Ely, NV. RT 318 will save you approx. 44 miles and several pulls. Join back up to 93 at Ely and continue to Twin Falls, ID., then onto Missoula and Flathead Lake. We will be leaving Sin City next week and going up 93. Any more info, just PM me.
  • Nevada has good main highways. They are in better shape than a lot of Californias roads. Be careful about driving at night. There can be a lot of livestock on the road, and deer and elk up around Ely. 93 is not that steep or windy. People tend to go pretty fast.
  • I assume you're talking about US 93 through eastern NV? Easy, two lane road. Little traffic and a far distance between towns. As we used to say when I worked in Nevada: Miles and miles of nothing but miles and miles.

Both 318 and US 93 are good ways to head north. There is a free CG at Pahranagat NWR south of Alamo. There are also free campsites in Pioche across from the park on 4th Street. Water and sewer, no electric. They do ask for a donation, but with W & S, it's a deal. There's a pool at the park if you want to cool off.

Cave Lake SP, 7 or 8 miles SE of Ely, is a great place for an overnight. Kind of our go-to place when we're heading west from Collorado. Up in the hills so a little cooler and there are trees (hey, this is NV, trees are a plus!). Showers there also.

Five miles south of Wells in the turnoff to Angel Lake NFS CG. It's a 10 mile paved road to the CG, but great beauty up there. Also at 8400' so quite cool in the evenings. Worth the drive.

  • Great road. Just FYI, north of Alamo there is a fork in the road. If you go left on 318, it can save you some time, instead of staying with 93. But there is no gas on 318, so don't take the fork unless you have filled up in Alamo. (Unless, of course, you have a huge gas tank!)
  • X2 on NV 318! A few years ago the State of NV repaved 318, We think that overall it is in better shape. Watch your fule though.
