New highway south from Nuevo Laredo?

The 2015 Guia Roji shows a new highway named 2D that looks like it replaced the libre 85 to Monterrey but it ends at the bottom of the page and does not continue on the next page.
It's been two years since I've traveled there. Anyone know what I should expect? Should I still look for 85 south out of N. Laredo?

  • Highway 2 runs West to East parallel to the border, the one that runs South is 85 and 85D, when you see the letter D after the number that indicates that it is a toll road, a simple number means it is a "libre" non payment.

  • This is the main SCT page where maps can be found - cartografia - they seem to keep changing it but if you save this one and the words they use it can usually be found again - you would think they would find a way to change the webpage without changing the address all the time - this is at least the fourth time I have had to find it again when my save address does not work.

  • If this is the one - the green highway - it is probably 85D.....

  • Following is a web address for where you can find all the maps published by SCT - the Mexican government official maps - from which Guia Roji gets their maps. They do show a green road from south of Laredo going almost to Monterrey. On the SCT map the road is not numbered. We drove down 85 a little over a month ago and saw no indication that there is another road. But we weren't looking. I think we would have seen it. The latest SCT map with this green line showing is dated 2012. When they are planning a road it is usually shown as a sort of dotted line - but this one shows solid meaning it is complete. Maybe Chris qtla911 will see your post and have better info as he travels these roads more than anyone. You can download all the SCT maps by state as well as the map of all of Mexico. Problem is it seems SCT changes the web address of where these maps can be found on a regular basis. I had to do some searching to find them again. They are all .pdf files of what would be large 3'x4' road maps. You can zoom in and move the maps around to see the part you want. Much more info than Guia Roji. I just looked at the SCT map of Nuevo Leon that I downloaded in 2013 - it is the same map currently on the website and it does show this divided cuota green line - but I have no knowledge that such a road exists. I could be missing something. Could there be a new road and I never saw it and my Garmin does not have it? A new mystery of Mexico? It is probably 85D? Not sure how Guia Roji gets their road numbers.
