When the oldest granddaughter asked if we could pick her up at LaGuardia and take her to New Jersey to visit a college, we decided to rent a small car. Volunteering in Connecticut for the summer, a couple train trips into NYC had convinced me that the Ram 2500 MegaCab was too big to take into NYC.
Yes, driving through Times Square and 42nd Street and other parts of Manhattan was a blast.
Personally, I found 2-4 pm traffic somewhat easy to negotiate. Everything went very slow, and I had to assert myself with lane changes, turns, etc.
Being very slow helped because the combinations of one way streets, no turn areas, delivery trucks stopped two lanes out from the curb were a challenge. It would have been much worse if I was traveling faster than 4-5 mph.
Plus I got to see more wile stopped in traffic than if I had been moving.
