If I had a month in July starting from SF, I would not go to Utah -- too hot. I would stay as far north and as far UP (in altitude) as possible, to beat the heat. If you want to stay in the US, I would see Glacier and Yellowstone and the Tetons. Do you have kids with you? How old are they? Does your family hike?
