There is much more to Nl than icebergs. Our history goes abck almost 1000yrs, 500 yrs before Columbus. St. anthony is also a great place to see icebergs. Don't forget Western Brook Pond in Gros Morne NP.
And almost every town has its own festival. Check the town websites for the specific dates. Spend a weekend at Woody Island, for a taste of traditional NL. While there, a resident in the town of Swift Current has a large collection of classic vehicles.
There are 2 ferries to/from the island. Many people use one to get here and the second to leave. This saves on backtracking across the island. They have terminals at Argentia and Port Aux Basques.
Our capital of St Johns has The Rooms, an archive, Cabot Tower on Signal Hill, the site of the first trans-Atlantic wireless transmission. And Cape Spear, the most easterly point in North America. In 2016, there is a dispaly at The Rooms about the Royal Newfoundland Regiment and what happened at Beaumont-Hamel. It is the 100th Anniversary.
We also have whale watching, lots of fishing, sea-kayaking, hiking, golf and many other outdoor activities.
