- richardg40ExplorerThe Souris case could have to do with campers coming off the Magdalen Island ferry late at night 1 to 2 am and looking to park for the rest of the night . First time we went to Magdalen Island we took the evening ferry and had to drive and extra hour from Souris to Charlottetown . Got there at 3 am . Walmart has the no overnight parking sign there too but don't enforce it . We stayed anyways ( tired ) and got no problems .
Still like P.E.I. but with no kids there are times you don't really want or need to go to a campground . We visit all day and spend quiet evening inside . Why pay $ 30 but thats another topic !! - KidooExplorerWonder what pushes small town like in PEI to reject RV like they do. Does it bring more tourist or less, more or less money for everyone?
- Little_KopitExplorerSigns or no signs, you have to be permitted to pull off the road and park if you are tired. I can't imagine anyone winning a court case if they tried to use that no parking sign and their place was the only place large enough for an rv and right off the highway.
:C - richardg40ExplorerSo from the comments there is not too many places/stores etc that have a no overnight parking sign . Even in friendly Newfoundland i don't think i could convince the wife to park far from civilisation .
I was surprised last year the supermarket in Souris P.E.I. had signs everywhere no overnight parking . It was late but we parked at the local arena that had houses all around and RCMP across the road lol . Wife slept like a log .
Would love to take a month to travel NFLD . either this year or next . We have our house on the market so i don't think we can get away this year . - TripalotExplorerIf your ferry gets in late, drive a couple of miles up the highway and you will come to the Nfld. Tourist Bureau on the right hand side. Stay overnight there and when they open in the a.m. go in and get all the info. on the island that you want.
- woodhogExplorerGo to any of the "Cape" places for a start, usually leads to a light house or deserted point type of spot. We stayed at almost all of them.
You might rock and roll in the wind in a few spots at night.
This is a cool spot:
Underground Salmon
Stay over night in the parking lot, pit toilets etc...
Really, just drive around and stop where you want to for the night...
Grocery store parking lots etc...
If you stop near someones house, they will come along have a yarn and probably invite you to supper. Quite often people show up on an ATV or side by side if you are a bit remote.
We were given a lot of moose meat. - bguyExplorer

Thanks for the responses. I love the gravel pits song. Yes, we are going to St. Anthony for the Iceberg Festival. Our previous trip to Newfoundland was in July and August and we missed the icebergs, that is why we are going so early this year. Bringing my long underwear.
When you come to Newfoundland always pack your warm jacket and some gloves. Hope you have a great time. - dcasonExplorerFYI, we did the day ferry/port aux basques and when we landed we didn't have a heck of a lot of time before darkness was going to be upon us so we ended up in Doyles. They have full hookup but next time we would boondock...thought snow was in the air and the unit was new to us so we weren't sure how it would perform.
Pull over and find a spot for the night...anywhere. - VTLeeExplorerThanks for the responses. I love the gravel pits song. Yes, we are going to St. Anthony for the Iceberg Festival. - Little_KopitExplorerTraditionally, the Queen's Birthday weekend, that before May 24.

Agreed, not hard to find a place to stop.
I lived there 24.5 years.
I trust you're going up to L'Anse aux Meadows and St. Anthony.
