No-See-Um Bite Itch Relief Magic

Q-Tips And Hot Water

  • Water must be boiling hot to work
  • Q-Tips must be cotton not foam
  • Heat a cup of water to boiling
  • Set on table
  • Dip Q-tip in the water then rapidly apply q-tip to no-see-ump bump
  • Wait ten seconds
  • Did it take the itch away?
  • If not apply second time
  • Water must be kept above 200F for this to work
  • Reheat water if necessary
  • Treat all bites
  • Yes the dab of hot water will sting a little but it's just for a moment
  • More is not better
  • The size of the Q tip cotton limits the treatment to a safe level
  • Does not scar or mark skin
  • This treatment works. Flat out. Once the itch is gone it does not return
  • Even 10% lidocaine in comparison seemed to work .000001% as well
  • No medication can compare to how well this works
  • And it's damned near free

  • Only see-ums in Patzcuaro. Beeg oogly black mosquitoes.
Boiling water works best if you don't look at a thermometer.

Yeah it works on flea bites. But not so hot on spouse teeth marks.

Stick the end of the hose of a shop vac onto the cat's back. Cats with ears plastered flat against their head may not be entirely trustworthy.

Standing water from high waves is numero uno high season for a jejene bug hatch on a beach.

Pennyroyal Oil only lasts 2-3 hours but is more effective against carnivorous bugs except for zancudos. Smells better and does not stain clothes.

Flea treatment for pets, works. For cats, apply drops then carefully apply a touch of habanero table sauce alongside. Not enough to touch skin. One swipe of a licked paw cures the urge to groom out the drops.
  • In my SAR days, I'd get poison oak about once a year. I was told once by an ER doc that "you can get the shots, and it'll go away in about 12-14 days, or do nothing and it'll go away in about 2 weeks." I resorted to showers as hot as I could stand - the "burn" sensation overrides the "itch" sensation, and at least you can get some sleep.

This q-tip remedy is along the same lines, and like the OP said - it's almost free!
  • SO hope you are right, he'll be trying it within 24 hours. The no see'm season seems to have started!

Does that mean it won't work in Patzcuaro where you can't get water over 200 F?
  • I have the best mosquito repelant W I F E they love her I do not get bit at all, they land and take off that fast, do not know why thdy do not like me.

I will keep in mind the remedy, do you know if it works on flea bites, having eight cats we do now and then get one for the wife, again they do not get on me.

  • I am amazed something so stupidly simple remains virtually unknown. Once the itch is gone it is g-o-n-e. I must have spent 200 dollars on remedies that of course required a 50 mile drive. I have met people who had spent close to a hundred dollars for antihistamine shots. Without exception the doctors who hear this just sit there and blink. The remedy does not have 11 syllables in it's name. Water / heat / q tip
  • This remedy sounds like the one everyone should be looking to! just the fact that it will mark the end to that itch, seems amazing.I have noticed the itch returning, maybe a couple of weeks later, when you're driving and need to desperately reach down and start scratching, again. We don't need any more distracted driving!
