Nogales Mariposa With Tent Trailer?

This has likely been discussed before and if so, please point me to the proper thread.
We will be crossing the Nogales Mariposa crossing in the next week with a tent trailer and our five kids. It has been three years since I crossed the border and so I am a bit fuzzy about it and have not crossed with a tent trailer.
Can someone give me clear directions on the Mariposa crossing so that even my simple mind can understand it well? :)
As I recall, it was just a super easy crossing through the border with hardly a glance on the American side and a green light on the other side.
What can I expect different this time through and what lanes / routes do I take to cross?
We have all of our paper work in order unless we will need more copies of something or another (we being my wife and I)

Thanks
Tim

  • Just another freeway overpass with a gigantic green sign saying MARIPOSA ROAD. I fuel up way back up I-19 as the prices get stupid approaching the border. On Mariposa, there is a handy Wells Fargo bank branch on the left side. The last time I went through the Super Wal-Mart there I wasn't very impressed. To me, this is one of the smoothest heavily traveled POE/garitas on the border. Lukeville may be smoother but a Mexican friend called me yesterday and said it was 121F there.

The Mariposa exit is clearly marked off of I19. Turn right at the bottom of the exit to the crossing. Can't miss it. You will be stopped now on the USA side and asked a few questions. If your tent trailer is large you will want to be in the truck lane. When you get to the first Mexico customs checkpoint, you will probably get a red light now days with a minor search. At KM21 you will stop and get your Mexico permits & visa. The crossing at Mariposa is subject to change as they are doing construction. Good Luck, not that tough. Just stop when they want you to stop!

Thanks Rocmoc! I appreciate it. Sounds like not a lot has changed really. I think we will be there before the 8th when the article said construction is to start.
    Thanks Again,
