Looking for a well proven route to Gettysburg from Northshore area of Massachusetts. Definitely want to avoid the George Washington bridge route. I see rt 90 > 84 > 91 > 15 > 287 over the Tappen Zee is that the recommended route? From the North Shore it's a prettier drive taking the Mass Pike all the way to NY then South then 87->84->81, but for directness and fewer tolls you should find your way to the Tappen Zee (recently replaced by the Governor Mario Cuomo Bridge). Heading to Florida via Rt 81 we now take the Cuomo Bridge to the Garden State Parkway to Rt 78 across NJ and PA to Harrisburg.Dave

CT 15 is the Wilbur Cross Parkway / Merritt Parkway and is restricted to passenger cars only. Your motorhomes are excluded, and with good reason as they would not fit under many of the overpasses. I-91 to I-95 to I-287 is an alternative route that works, although I-95 oftentimes has quite a bit of traffic (though it does tend to be moving traffic, at least at the times of day when I've been on it).I-84 to I-81 is okay. I-90 to I-87 to I-84 to I-81 is likewise fine. I-90 to I-88 to I-81 is another not unreasonable possibility.

I-84 to I-81 to US-15 is the route I would pick.As stated RVs are not allowed on 15. I90-I84-I684-I287-I78-I81 through Harrisburg to I83 and follow route signs from there. Have done it numerous times. 84 can be a little tough to navigate through Hartford (keep your eye out for signage) and there will be traffic especially around Danbury and Waterbury but it's not really a big deal. Stop at Cabela's in Hamburg PA on the way by. When you come back please be aware that 684 comes up a bit suddenly. Again, pay attention to signage.

RVs may not be permitted on CT15, but if I recall correctly, Rt 15 in PA runs into Gettysburg and I don’t think it had any such restriction. People need to follow the posted route to notice which Rt 15. applies Dave
