Ohio to Cape Cod

I've got a week at Nickerson State Park starting the 4th of July!! I had originally wanted to stay at Scusset Beach, but they aren't accepting reservations due to redoing their entire electrical electrical system after a major failure this fall. We will more or less just be using Nickerson as our base camp while we are out and about most of the day exploring other parts of the Cape.

Ranger - where are you staying on the Cape?

My self then I'd take I-70 to I-71 North to I-90 East and then the route I'd mentioned above.

That does make a difference, because we head to Sandusky. But I always try the flattest route if it is not much inconvenience.

Where in Ohio are you starting from? If northern Oh. then I-90 thru Erie Pa, then I-86 to Binghamton NY, then I-87 north to Albany, the I-90 to the Cape.

I read the other 2 posts..and they all get you to the Cape...but we live not too far off 84...and go to the Cape and to In....from there..I would go 80 to Pa and then go north on 81 to Scranton to 84 ,straight across to the Mass line and pickup 90 to 495 ,right out to the Cape..90 a toll road...but not a big deal.....this is the best route I have come up with.......I stay at Mohegan Sun @ Pocono Downs in Pa and then at the first rest area on the Ohio Tpke....80.....which have elect ,water and a dump....Chuck

I-90 out of Albany is the easiest. Take the Mass Pike to I-495 south. We avoid south western Conn/NYC like the plague.

A couple of alternates

1. Rather than take the Mass Pike all the way to 495, pick up MA 146 south out of Worcester towards Providence. Take I-295 to I-95 to I-495 (go around Providence). There's a couple of miles of bad road at the end of 146, but other than that is a nice ride.

2. Pick up I-84 out of Scranton PA and follow that all the way into Conn. Before you get to Hartford, take Rt 9 south to New London and pick up I-95 there. It's some 2 lane but mostly 4 lane to Providence where you can pick up I-195 to Cape Cod.

I-80 east to Williams port, 15 north to I-86 to Binghamton, I-88 to Albany, I-90 to Boston, then local roads to the cape.
