- bukhrnExplorer IIIFrom Luray, you're actually "going in" from the side, on US211, then tour the north end up to Front Royal, & back, then do the opposite end down to I64 , be aware that Skyline Drive is 105 mi. long, at 35 mph speed limit, plus all the stops, that's a Very long day of driving.
Hopefully you're not touring in the Rv,totally possible, but that's a lot of hills & curves. - RoyBExplorer III-81 runs just West of the Skyline Drive with major routes access to the Parkway.
Our camp ground of choice is LOFT MTN with no hookups along with Sherando Lakes Camp Ground with hookups just off the Blue Ridge Parkway at the south end of the Shenandoah Natl Park
Some items to watch on the Skyline Drive is one or two Tunnels, lots of Motorcycle and even bicycle traffic and of course scenic pull outs at many areas. In the early evenings the deer and wildlife start coming out crossing the parkway... The Big Meadows Area is the place to be in the early evening for watching the deer wildlife.
We have also done the 450Mile long Blue Ridge Parkway a couple of times over the years. You certainly cannot be in any hurry doing this...
Roy Ken - Rangerman40ExplorerWe are staying at the KOA in Luray... Everything in the park was booked. I was just curious if anyone had any opinions on either coming through PA and then south to Luray, or go through WV and then north to Luray.
- KD4UPLExplorerWhere in Ohio are you coming from? If from the southern part I'd come thru WV on I-64 and get on at the south end on top of Afton Mt. If you're coming from northern OH I'd come by way of I-81 to I-66 to Frontroyal and come down that way.
