Oklahoma City transit I-40 to I-35

I will be driving in a car (funeral trip) coming in on I-40 and leaving on I-35 I want to go through town the quickest way possible. I am not adverse to paying tolls if it is worth it but not if it is just for 5 minutes difference. I am seeing the route 66 and kilpatrick turnpike as possible traffic avoidance options. What would a local resident suggest I expect to be going through in the afternoon 3-4 o'clock.
  • I used 44 to 35 no traffic problems going or returning through OKC. Thanks again.
  • If the traffic is light and no problems I 40 to I 44 to I 35 and I 40 to I 35 will be dead even as far as time wise. Since they completed a new section of I 40 I like I 40 to I 35 better.
  • The easiest route would be I-40 to I-35, except during rush hour. If you are coming from the west and going north on I-35 during rush hour, the Kilpatrick Turnpike is the best option to bypass Oklahoma City.
  • ditto to using I 44 over to I 35. just keep to the middle lane if you can.
  • I'm not a local resident but I drive that same route yearly. You didn't say what direction you're heading, but if coming from the west and heading north on I-35 I always stay on I-40 and take the I-44 exit north (exit 147B) and follow I-44 until it merges into I-35. I tried the Kilpatrick turnpike once and didn't feel like it was any faster than the one I mentioned. Traffic isn't that bad, but there is a little construction that slows down a little.
