Side note on chains: practice putting them on in your driveway's controlled environment before leaving home if you have never installed chains. Take a small tarp/blanket for your knees out on the road. Have at a minimum basic tools: pliers, screw driver, etc,. Gloves. Dress for the weather. 9x out of 10 when I have had to install chains on mountain passes the wind is howling, cars are going by, it's cold, wet, and dark. Snow is going down my neck. I hate putting on chains but it might be the only way through, especially if the WSP is parked there and watching and the reader board says "Chains Required".
