we've been twice but not in October. Depends on whether you're in a hurry or have plenty of time. I would head as far south as you have time for. I-77 south to I-81 to I-40 and watch the weather as you go a few days ahead. Once you decide the route we can help with stops. On I-40 there is a KOA at Clinton TN about 6.5 hours from Parkersburg and they have level pull thrus. Be sure to check to make sure the RV parks are still open and whether they have water. 2nd stop could be Tom Sawyer's RV Park in West Memphis Arkansas. Third stop KOA Checotah-Lake Eufaula at Checotah, OK. Next we like Oasis RV Park in Amarillo TX. Check the weather before you go thru Flagstaff. Just some options if you take the southern route.
