Sacramento to Parkersburg WV

We made it to our first stop here in west Wendover for an overnight in the casino parking lot. Will hopefully make it to Cheyenne tomorrow. Not sure where we will stay overnight because their annual western days and rodeo that starts on Wednesday. Maybe will get lucky and find a place.

Maybe if you get over that way you could check out the cg for us. We would really appreciate anything you could find out.

I am not familiar with that CG, but that is a nice area along the river. From pictures on their website, the CG appears simple, yet clean. I'll have to drive over and check the place out. I'm always looking for a quality place to recommend to folks.

The wife would like to be closer to the daughter. We have been in contact with Blennerhasett RV Park in Belpre,Ohio for possible a spot there. Can you make and comments on that cg? Wolf Run State Park sounds really nice, maybe after the baby is born we could try that. We would really like full hookups during our stay. Thanks again for your suggestions Herd Fan.

Every cg I recommend is about 30 minutes from Parkersburg. For full hookups, check out Carthage Gap in Coolville, Ohio. We like the newer section better. Other options are Wolf Run State Park in Caldwell, Ohio (very nice CG, electric and water hookups). Mountwood park is out on Rt 50 and has some FHU, but the better sites are electric/water. Mountwood is a bit
more rustic, but it's not bad at all.

Thanks to all who made suggestions for our upcoming trip. We plan on leaving this Saturday or Sunday. Herd Fan can you make any suggestions for campsites there in or near Parkersburg? We plan on staying for 6-10 weeks there in the vicinity.

We just did a cross country trip and went from Lincoln CA to Hemingway SC in 4 days. It was about 2700 miles. We stayed at campsites off of the highway and only stopped to gas up. We started early morning (on a few days at 6am) and only parked at sunset. I also stayed at or a little above the speed limit posted. We took the I80 route

I would give yourself 5 days to get there to account for road construction and other delays.

If you're taking I-80, there is a steep grade at Salt Lake City. Take I-15 north at SLC to I-84 then back to I-80 not as steep. Near Laramie WY there is a 3 or 4 mile pull to the top where there is a rest area. We've been out west twice and we're from flat Florida and did fine in our DP pulling a small pickup. Just take it slow. I would say 5 days (4 nights) would be better.There will be some construction. 5 days would be 8 hours driving per day plus rest and fuel stops. The trick would be to get up and leave very early each morning so you can arrive at the next stop before dark. We have stayed at the following KOA's on that route. Although KOA's are pricey they usually have pull thrus which is nice if you're only staying one night. Wendover KOA, West Wendover NV 2. Cheyenne KOA, Cheyenne WY. 3. Des Moines West KOA, Adel IA. 4. Indianapolis KOA, Greenfield IL. We do have other campgrounds we prefer but they are not right off the interstate and do no have pull thrus. Last time we were in IL, I-70 was very rough especially at the OH state line.
