All depends on the weather. The current 10 day forecast for the US has mostly sun for the next couple of days, but then some thunderstorms in the Midwest and Rockies. Doesn't look like any snow but that's the 10 day forecast and you aren't leaving for four days. If you want the most direct route I'd pick up I-80 and take it all the way to Sacramento. But if it looks like snow I'd head South. I bought tire cables for my motorhome, but it's only for emergencies as I'd never drive my motorhome in snow on purpose.
