Playa Bonita in Rocky Point question.

To those who might currently be at RP, how full is Playa Bonita? We are coming to Play Bonita on the 23rd and just curious how busy the place was this week. I don't want front row but we have about
6 RV's and wanted to camp together. They won't accept reservations
(only a month or more in advance) They say we just have to show up in person and they have lots of spaces? How many empties? "Many empties, no problem". Can we camp together? "Sure, sure". I'm sorry, but I am just a skeptic by nature.

If we pull in at 7 or 8pm, with no reservations, what is their normal procedure? Are we on our own until morning? Is the office open late?

This is not a big problem and I know we will figure it out but I thought if somebody knew more than what I know at this point, I would ask.

By the way, I'm coming from Tucson and if somebody needs something brought down (legal stuff, no guns) message me and we can discuss it. Thanks
  • sounds very Mexican. Nothing certain but uncertainty.

I don't think I've ever seen the place near full, especially if there is nothing big going on in town. The most crowded I've ever seen it was during the weekend of the motorcycle rally in November
  • I usually just show up and usually get a beach front spot. I am not however with 6 rigs. I will always pay extra to have a beach front spot, I mean that is the point of being there....the view.

If that fails I would go to the Reef.

Playa Bonita seems like 45-75 year old crowd people that stay for a while with nice expensive rigs.....The Reef sees a lot of people with toy haulers and 30-55 crowd some with kids.
  • Yes, you are both right. We are coming down for a Desert off road race and it will be busier than normal. We, being ahead of the crowd on
Wed will probably be Ok Then there is always the Reef as a backup.

I was just trying to be courteous to them by hanging out closer to the far back, away from the campers, since we do have noise vehicles.

Last year we had all of us together in a 10 space square and I was trying to do the same thing again, since it worked so well. We had 6 occupied spaces with 4 parking spaces between us for setting up tables, awnings and race trucks and it shields the noise from other campers.

    Take care,
    Norbert
  • There is space this week. Last weekend or the one before it was 100% full due to Hobie Cat races. I haven't been able to get beachfront for a couple of years now. The NW corner of the park currently has space for a group like yours.
