Please! More trip reports.

In the past 5 years I have made 3 trips to Alaska from South Mississippi. I would love to be on the road again this year, but family issues make that difficult. I would really like to read reports from those of you who are on your way or already there. I really do miss the scenic beauty, the wildlife and meeting so many wonderful people. I'm sure that there are many others who feel this way and would enjoy reading your reports. If you have a blog, please post your link and I can follow you there.

I hope all of you are enjoying great weather. Last night I was recalling how lucky we were when we were in Valdez and the locals told us it was the best 3 straight days of beautiful weather that they had ever experienced. Valdez is one of my favorite places and when we get back up there, I plan to stay there at least a week. My second favorite place was Hyder. I will be back!

2lazy4u... are you heading south? Kenai Peninsula? If so, I will tell you a couple of the nicer free places to stay. We're heading that way Friday and AGAIN next week. :)

I'll be heading to Homer in a week. Would appreciate any info you can provide, and thanks in advance.
  • I luv reading all the reports and blogs. I follow them religiously. We are currently saving for this trip, if only once in my lifetime. But, it's on my bucket list as soon as we retire in another couple years. Keep the info coming! For those of you making the trip.... enjoy and safe travels!!

  • I feel very fortunate, especially after hearing stories of coming here and never seeing much because of the rain.
  • The next 10 days are supposed to be GREAT as far as the weather forecast. Over the whole state! Enjoy.

We'll be out in ours most of those days.
  • I just arrived in Palmer. The weather is beautiful, though chilly. Someone told me the area has had cold winds for several days now. The mountains are just gorgeous. I ran into a fellow going south who said he'd had to cancel his halibut fishing at Homer because of rain a week or so ago, so I guess I'm lucky so far. You're lucky you've got to come up here so many times. I also saw a fire burning in the St. Elias on the way up here.
  • This person is in Alaska now. His blog has many fabulous photos.

I can really understand with your wish for more trip reports. I've been grounded since November while a broken ankle heals very very slowly. No camping, no driving, no walking. Not even going out of my house for several months. TR's and vicarious travel have helped to keep me sane.
