Port Angeles to Victoria

If you go up-island, give Salmon Point south of Campbell River a call. We are there now. Stayed at Oceanside prior to coming here, and will be spending a few days back at Oceanside before taking the ferry back to Anacortes.

We Have decided to take the truck and trailer at the last minute! We will be heade up in about a week. Which RV park to stay at? WestBay is booked. I'm leaning toward Oceanside in Saanich. We are staying about three nights. We would like to see Victoria and the gardens and whatever else might interest us.

I have lived on Vancouver Island since I was 16 ,. Apart from a couple of Years working on the lower mainland and travelling all over BC as a part of My Job I would say that that is most of My Life!
I'm now nearly seventy?

There are still places on the island that I haven't got to yet!

If You just want to see Victoria and do Butchart Gardens in a couple of Days ,leave Your Vehicles in the US and walk onto the Coho ! Ride the City buses or take one or two of the numerous Tours!

Unless You have a Few weeks to spend don't bother bringing Your Rig over at all! What You will save in ferry fees will pay for some nice meals and a decent Hotel Room!

As others have said, you can walk on the ferry from downtown to downtown. If you wanted to see the Gardens, there are all kinds of tours out there, or just jump on a city bus that goes right there ($2.50?). If you wanted to see a little more of the Island and you could come on the weekend, one of the car rental companies does a $9.95 per day special, 100 km per day, for Friday-Monday. That would give you enough for the 'Circle Route' up through Port Renfrew, or almost enough to go 'Up Island' as far as Cathedral Grove .

Arbutus Cove B&B is very nice, though it's been over 10 years since we've been to Victoria.

Our first trip, we walked through Victoria; really beautiful. Next two trips, we took our rental car and roamed all over the immediate area, then took the gigantic BC ferry to Vancouver and up to Whistler. The drive back was very nice, though some can be flat.

If you have time, a state ferry trip to one or more of the islands is nice. I believe we went to Friday Harbor and stayed at a real nice B&B.

Sequim is a nice little town. Amazing that they have very little rain due to the mountain shadow (something like that). They have an Irrigation Festival sometime in the summer that sounds like fun.

Victoria is very easy to walk around and the city bus goes to the Gardens. Unless you want to do more, leave the vehicles at an RV park in Port Angeles or Sequim.

When we are going to just Victoria, including up to the Gardens, we usually leave the car in PA.
We've stayed at the Days Inn (right next to the ferry terminal), Hemingways by the Sea B&B (took the car that time) and a chain of discount hotels that appears to be gone now.

Back in the "working years", I went up-island monthly and a few times took the RV along, lots to see up there too.

There is lots to see on the Island. A few years ago we decided to take all of September and see the island. We were gone for the month but only made it halfway up the island. So the next year we headed up to Port Hardy and worked our way down.
All the above advice is good. There are at least a dozen Hotel/Motels within 4 blocks of the ferry terminal.

We have had friends and family stay at the Royal Scot and they have enjoyed it.

Today in Victoria it is 40 and cloudy and will probably rain, as it has a want to do in the winter.
