I suggest paying a visit to Barkerville if you are into history. It is a restored exhibit of a gold rush era town south of Prince George. If you are driving from south, you will pass Quesnel. Barkerville is off the main hwy from there about 45 min. away. There's private campground at a small village call Wells, IIRC, nearby and provincial campground at Bowron Lake.
