Puerto Penasco...some questions...

I have an internet business and noticed they have daily mail transfer business in town. Has anyone used that? Would it be roughly equivalent to sending from the U.S.? Other questions....

How humid is it? I stayed behind the dunes in Port Aransas TX and got rusted out big time. But PP is a desert. Wondering if that makes much of a difference. And if so, how far from the beach makes the difference? I don't do well in humidity either.

Other questions...

How windy is it? Here and there or a strong breeze all the time?

What the TV situation at Playa Bonita?...I have a Winegard carryout but am guessing that won't work there. If they do have tv options how many channels are we talking about?

How busy are they these days. I've read everything from "reserve way ahead" to "the place was empty".

I occasionally need to send Western Union to my suppliers. Is there a way to do that there? I guess if I ever had to I could drive back up to the border.

I have a smartphone. I use verizon wireles, I'm guessing that out. And it's really important that I have reliable internet. I'm on it all the time.

    Both Dish and Directv work well here in Penasco. Just don't tell them you are in Mexico as they are not licensed here. Burrito Express goes to the Lukeville post office at the border three days a week, MWF. Mail can take an extra day to and from Lukeville as it is remote. If you are receiving packages know that they may be opened by Mexican customs when brought into Mexico. Burrito Express charges extra to receive packages.

    Thanks for the info! So the USB modem doesn't need to go through the phone? It pulls the signal out of the sky? Is it like the Verizon wireless I use now, just through a Mexican provider? Any idea how much that setup runs?

    Does the Burrito mail get the mail to the U.S. same day? And say...Tuscon the next day? Do you think it would it delay my orders going to the US by about a day?

    And the Dish network will work there? Using my own dish and the account I'm using now?

    X2. I wish we had more Carlos Slims in Mexico. I have a laundry list of his philanthropy not to mention how he cleaned up Telmex and the cell services.

    We live 30 miles outside Monterrey in a town of 2500. High speed internet.

    I work out of my house here in Puerto Peñasco. I have for over 9 years. My internet is very reliable and fast too. I run a small network within the structure and we have as many devices (including netflix) as we need to online at the same time. I have 3 g service on my TelCel smart phone. You will need your own internet connection not the one that the RV park shares if you plan to work.

    It is humid this time of year and will continue to be until October. Rust is a problem the same as any seaside community.

    I receive my mail once a week with a small service here. If I want it sooner I drive the hour to the border to ship and receive goods. If you want any other specific information you can feel free to PM me.

    We have very reliable internet in my part of the country. I guess Uncle Carlos Slim likes to invest money where he will get a return. Tio Slim has invested billions in Veracruz where growth is assured and money can be made.

    That means I'd have to work off my phone? I need to print labels and have some form of social networking. I live alone and would be pretty miserable without it. If there's no way to do that, staying there long term won't be possible.

    You will not get reliable internet from a trailer park. Especially in Mexico. You can get a usb stick for Telcel internet. I doubt PP has 4G and maybe not even 3G.
