Quartzsite - High Fuel Prices !

We just came thru that area today. Prices for diesel were at least 50 cents higher per gallon than about 10-15 miles east or west of them. At the 95 intersection it was $3.47 at the Chevron and $3.81 at Arco - at the Chevron about 10-12 miles east of them it was $2.97.

Where, Joe's gas and horse feed? Ask him to prove it. I filled up with Regular at Chevron in PHX this afternoon for $2.29. I've spent the last 3 weeks between Phoenix and Tucson daily and there is nothing close to $1.99 at any brand station anywhere.

Really? What kind of ignorant statement is that? I'm sure his friend calls all of his buddies just to lie about gas prices.

According to www.arizonaGasprices.com there are now 10 stations in the Phoenix area that are at $1.99 per gallon. Your buying Chevron which is usually the most expensive statewide.

And all you are seeing are stations next to the interstate.

How about doing some homework before you accuse someone of lying next time?

YES several stations were selling regular gas at $1.99 CASH

It was on all the Phoenix news channels

  • Hey, I understand the tourist thing, believe me. We lived in Estes Park, CO - right next to Rocky Mtn NP - for 8 years. Point here is that these places with prices much lower are very close to Quartzsite - which many of us consider the junkiest place in AZ - and are so much cheaper.

I just wanted to let people know who might be passing thru to buy at either side of that place.

Let's not let this digress into something much more than that.
  • I only buy Chevron. I filled up a station about a mile from my regular one and found I paid 6 cents a gal. more. My regular station is across the street from competition. They have to match. It's location, location, location. Quartsite is a snowbird magnate. Snowbirds are supposed to have extra bucks. AZ. retailers depend on their business, some to last the year. Even at our local produce market I see increased prices. It's seasonal business. I don't mind paying a little extra for a few months because AZ's economy depends on them. Doctor's offices, restaurants, etc. are jammed but it's business. If it wasn't for their tax generated revenue the gastapo would be coming for us for more money. It seems like you are an AZ. resident so you should know how the game is played. I doubt AZ is any different than any other tourist destination. IMO..

  • We see the same thing....and we were thrilled to see diesel at $2.99 at that truck stop (or was it $2.97?)....it was below $3.00...YAAAAY!!!!! We used to see the same differences in central Oregon where we lived. It always seemed the higher prices were in the areas the tourists mostly were located. :( There's a new grocery store in Blythe....Smart and Final. Prices seemed to be cheaper than any place in Q or Parker....we'll do a double savings: fuel and food. :)

  • Kinda like Needles, CA and Lake Havasu City, AZ - but that is the difference in state taxes to some degree.

Just thought I would give a heads up for people to save a few bucks. They can send them to me! :-)

I hate getting ripped off like that!
