Quartzsite Arizona, 2015

Greetings and hola from Mexico.

If you find yourself out in the West this January please stop by and see us at the Quartzsite RV show Jan 17-24 in beautiful.........Quartzsite AZ.

My wife, Naomi and I will be representing the State of Sonora Mexico. We will have information on RV hideaways such as Alamos - San Carlos/Guaymas - Kino Bay - and Puerto Peñasco (Rocky Point.)

These places are easy to get to, do not require a TIP and are affordable and beautiful. As I receive the information from the cities, I will update to tell you what we will have in our booth.

If you want specific information you will need to PM me for my email address as I am not allowed to post it here.

Welcome back to the Southwest and the Northwest (of Mexico) It will be nice to see old friends once again!

AJUA (aah hoo aah) Life is good!

  • Thanks Rocmoc, your graphic raised a question for me as well as our local tour board in Peñasco. I just did an overland trip to Alamos and never encountered a checkpoint for TIP. I must say though that my first night was in Bacochibampo bay in Guaymas and then we went through Guaymas the city on the free road to Navajoa. The newly installed Garita (Aduana office) is outside of Guaymas on the bypass toll road. That is the only inspection point other than fruits veggies and the tax office once in a while that pops up. For sure you cannot cross the Sinaloa border without a TIP. Once I have clarification on this I will report back. I have sent an email to COFETUR for an official response to a very good question. I strongly believe it is the free zone, and if not, it should be, there is only one way in and one way out of Alamos. The city is worth getting the TIP for if it turns out that it is needed. We spent 3 nights there and our group was astounded that such a jewel exist this far North in Mexico!

Hi Russ: I know you will charm them all @ Q! You are one hell of an Ambassador. Is Alamos part of the free zone? I thought you needed a TIP for that town.

No Alamos is free as well

Russ, are you sure? When did it change as it didn't use to be. I just did a search on Google and could not find any where a change had occurred. Here is a map of my understanding, http://www.mexadventure.com/MexicoTravel/Sonora/Puerto-Penasco-Tourist-Cards.cfm#sonora .

  • Thanks Moisheh - we find it very nice that the State Tourism Department hires us for this event. It shows confidence on their part for these gringos in Mexico. To the rest of you please make sure to stop by!
  • We are headed to Quartzite, will keep an eye out for your booth.
