All of us get to use this forum for free and there is a lot of good info on this forum.
But...it is their (Good Sam's)forum and they get to set the rules and enforce them however they see fit. If anyone doesn't like the rules or how they are applied, they can participate in any other forum that is to their liking. It is as simple as that.
If you establish your own forum and get people to participate, you can set up and enforce or not enforce whatever rules you see fit. Or if you find value in this forum and want to participate, you can live by their rules.
Took the words right out of my mouth. I actually owned my own forum (Subj: Varmint hunting), and while it sounds good to try to give people an opportunity to clean up their post, or provide feedback on why something was deleted etc, it is just impractical. We had a standing set of rules, and within those rules, we (the owners/moderators) have a stated standing policy that we are the first and only decision point, and will unilaterally remove posts we feel are not in keeping with the board without debate, notification or discussion. I since sold the forum. It can be a headache, so I have no problem with how things are moderated here. Probably because I have a better appreciation than most on what it takes.
