Yes all MOTORHOMES are built on truck chassis, that part is correct.
The confusion is:
The USE that the truck chassis is given.
Truck chassis with a motor, a cabin and a "CARGO CARRING BED" are commercial vehicles.
or is it a
Truck chassis with a motor and a CABIN that is a HOME, as is Motor home "vehiculo recreativo" does not carry cargo, although there have been a few used by the narcos trying to cross in Tijuana none made it.
You are getting confused by the weight of the unit, you need to focus on what the unit is going to be doing, and a "pick up truck with a cargo bed" regardless of what is on it is a "cargo carrying truck", you will not be carrying sand in your motor home, or pigs to market are you?
But a pickup truck with a camper shell is caring cargo, the camper shell is the cargo it is not permanently attached to the truck or the bed, that is the difference.
Your Motor Home is purposely built on a truck chassis, it is not a commercial vehicle, a pickup truck with bed is.
Can they de imported to Mexico?
Yes you can, and the importation fees and taxes are very steep, or you better have some good connections in the government and are good at greasing the cogs.
What purpose of use does it have?
Cargo carrying or living house?
That is the confusion, PURPOSE OF USE and there is where the weight comes in for the pick up trucks.
Small Ford F-150 Etc. are considered personal vehicles not really commercial vehicles, not enough cargo capacity.
