Since someone sent me pictures of the labels/tags/stickers showing the weight rating of their pickup I am now wondering if every pickup out there doesn't have these same weight information things somewhere. The one I was sent that said “TRUCK CAMPER LOAD INFORMATION” and “CARGO WEIGHT RATING" is probably what the Mexican law means by "capacidad de carga" - at least that is what my research has led me to think.
The guys at the border are reading the GVWR sticker on the door frame and using that as the "capacidad de carga" and I do not think that is what is meant by the law. This is why people are being turned away.
If you are a pickup truck owner could you look around your vehicle to try to find these labels or whatever they are and post here what you find. The ones I was sent were from a GM vehicle and the "Cargo Weight Rating" was inside the glove box - perhaps on the door? The GVWR was on the door frame somewhere. I am hoping every pickup truck has these labels with that same sort of wording. If you are interested in clearing this up I will put together information to whoever is on the other of the email address at aduana to try to get something written up that might explain all of this and resolve this issue once and for all.
Please post your make and model etc. along with the GVWR and then whatever other label you might find and what it says and what the weight shows. Everyone says this only applies to pickup trucks so there probably won't be these labels in motorhomes - mine does not have one.
