Dealing with Mexican border people is hit and miss. There are some that are smart, kind and really are trying to do a good job. But Gov. jobs are often reserved for people that are connected. Often you get someone that is just warming a seat and knows very little. Every year at Xmas the President goes to some major crossings to assure the Paisanos that they will be safe and not subject to requests for Mordida . Often there are so many problems that as many as 1000 people get fired!! Lately it has improved and there is always a few that are educated and understand many of the rules. When there are problems El Imparcial in HMO will often post a story complete with pictures. Nothing changes.
Here is a story about the Hacienda( they control Aduana). When Donaldo Collosio was running for President he held a number of fund raisers in Magdalena. He was a Rancher and that is Ranch, mining and Drug country. The Ranches are huge and these ranchers are very wealthy. Political donations are often over 1 million USD. One of these ranchers asked Collosio if he could help with a Tax problem ( Hacienda). His response was: I can help with any other problem but please don't ask me to interfere with the Hacienda!
I doubt that anything affecting a few RV'rs is important to the Gov.. I am awaiting to see what happens @ Nogales this season. Will they give 3/4 ton and larger trucks a hard time? Will they also enforce some very strict pet import problems? Nothing has been reported from either San Carlos or Kino residents but Sonora is part of the No Hassle zone and these residents do not have to stop for TIP's .
Brian. Every truck has a metal tag . Either on the door or the door jamb. It shows tire size, axle weight limitations and GVRW. If it is just a half ton that is everything. If it is a heavier truck with towing or camper options it will have another label. They are probably loking at the door label. Or maybe at some of those crossing they see dual wheels and that sets of bells! There is also the possibility that some Registrations will show GVRW. I think BC does.
