Renting a place to stay instead of camping?
I read in many post that some people are now renting an apartement or condo or else instead of bringing their rig to Mexico. Is it because it cost less this way or is it just because it is easier? ...

I would never rent a house to live in. I rent to obtain an umbilical connection and to store stuff and have a big patio and neighbors to keep an eye on things. As big as Quicksilver is (38') it pales in comparison. There is more room in the dining room than there is in the entire bus.
And yes I am renting and living in a house far from Quicksilver. For medical purposes. Next week I start the process of cardiac repair and rebuilding of my vertebrae , eye surgery, bone transplant, etc.
I found I cannot CARRY enough personal goods to keep me happy if I fly down. I hate television and have a passion for developing LED lighting. That is my recreation. The bus north to the border is 14-hours of swaying from side to side, and if I want to go somewhere I toss the bus schedules away.
But in Michoacan I have the best of all worlds. I love it.
