Renting a place to stay instead of camping?
I read in many post that some people are now renting an apartement or condo or else instead of bringing their rig to Mexico. Is it because it cost less this way or is it just because it is easier? ...

OP, it would be interesting to find out where you were looking. We just rented a two-bedroom two-bath three story house in the best part of San Miguel de Allende and it was $800 for the week (peak season Semana Santa) with a special monthly rental rate and even better if it is rented by the season.
I have also rented a small (rustic) one bedroom in SMA right near the Instituto for $185 a month. Friends have rented a one-bedroom in Valle de Bravo for 2800 pesos a month. There are many examples.
Don't rely on VRBO or AirBNB for inexpensive rentals. There are tons of places to rent but one needs to look local; local newspapers on line, and search in Spanish. English language searches will take you to the most expensive rentals as gringos have a lot of money :)
