Renting a place to stay instead of camping?
I read in many post that some people are now renting an apartement or condo or else instead of bringing their rig to Mexico. Is it because it cost less this way or is it just because it is easier? ...

These two websites offer some great homes and condos for rent. Some even say discounts for longer stays.
Do some clicking, do some estimates on daily rates to monthly and then send some emails in English. If people are intersested in renting and they don't speak English, I'm sure they'll find a way to respond.
I wouldn't waste money on flying down and back plus hotels looking for a place. A real estate agent isn't going to handle middle to low rentals. The money you spend flying around could pay for a couple of months worth of rent.
Like Sparks says, 3k to 4k U.S. is a lot of rental money in Mexico. I would rent my quinta with a pool, two bedrooms, three baths, country living with a/c and 45 minutes from Monterrey for 25,000 pesos. That's the going rate here. (I don't rent out my house)
