Road condition of I-40 in Oklahoma

We're headed to the west coast this weekend.

We'd like to take the 40 most of the way....BUT, I have avoided Oklahoma for many years because the road surface has been so bad in past travels.

Anyone have any recent experience on Interstate 40 thru Oklahoma? Is it smooth, or still very rough/bumpy?

Thanks in advance for any recent reports.

    Yesterday we drove from Oklahoma City to Amarillo. There wasn't any stretch of road that seemed any worse than anywhere else we've been.

    I thought the worst part of I 40 was Gallup east. But that was two years ago.

    They have done a lot of work on I-40 over the years. If you are referring to the section right through downtown OKC, that entire section has been replaced and is very nice.

    Drove last weekend from NM thru OK to east coast
    No issues

    Took I-40 from Little Rock to West Memphis in July and it was pretty smooth compared to what it was like in the past.

    No worse than any other state. Actually a lot better than some interstate highways I’ve traveled.
