Based on my 3 month experience in a rental car in CA, not RV:
Do not drive ( travel between towns ) at night. Remember too it will take a lot longer to travel distances then in the States. Local trips to eat etc ok at night usually. You will encounter cows, kids on bikes, sleeping policemen, and huge potholes in places...best not at night!
Be careful where you park at night or anywhere for that matter. For instance if going on a 1/2 day tour be sure you have secure parking. In some places, especially CR there may be someone in say a Bank parking lot offering to help you park / watch your car. Cost maybe 50cents and usually worth it.
Check tires good before heading out each time. Once had my tire slit in a nice hotel parking area. Thief was hoping to follow me out of town and "help" me change my tire. Luckily I noticed it before leaving town, got it repaired, and took the hotel the bill, which they paid. So I am thinking it happened before.
It all sounds a bit scary but is actually fun and relatively safe if you use common sense. Again, my experience is in a car not a RV. Good luck
