Coleman Roadtrip

I bought one a few years ago (the Red one that stands on the ground). I prefer charcoal, but wanted a back up. It worked fine, but did tip over a few times, and was a little awkward for us to store. It fell one time and the handle broke, I thought it was a little on the fragile side. My wifes uncle uses the more portable version that sits on a table and he uses it for EVERYTHING and loves it.

Thanks for the replies guys. I honestly didn't think I'd like it but I think it'll grow on me.

Roy, we got one last year and keep wrapping the tray underneath with foil. Can you tell me what you mean by "water base"? I really want to LOVE mine (got it brand new at a garage sale for $50, with the griddles, stove attachments, etc) but the cleanup is a hassle! THANKS!

Had one for 12 years. Works great. Ours is the scissor style. It folds and fits nicely into the front storage in the 5th wheel. Bought a new one this year. They offered the extended warranty but we said we didn't need it. Highly recommend it.

We have had the blue one just like RoyB posted the pic of for probably 5yrs or so. Bought on Craigslist for $50 w/ the bulk tank hose.

Did you get the scissor leg model or the one like we have?

It is pretty stable, never had any issues other than maybe just a touch wobbly if on uneven ground. But not to the point of possibly tipping.

Cooks pretty good. Steaks, burgers, etc all turn out pretty good.

Clean up on the other hand is a little bit of a pain IMO. BUT I do not use water in the pan. I need to try that to see if it's any different on clean up. I usually forget until it's time to clean up, then remember about the water!!!

We have a griddle and the stove top also. Never used the griddle much. Stove top works for cooking eggs or bacon, but if you need high heat for corn on the cob for example the RT doesn't have quite enough.

I bought the travel bag as well, but our Blue RT would not fit. I had read mixed reviews of the blue one fitting. Seemed about an even mix of it fitting or not. Glad we only paid about $13 on clearance!!!

I actually bought a Camp Chef Explorer 2 burner stove, 2x 30k btu burners for higher heat cooking. Also bought a splitter for the 20lb propane tank to run both off of.

I will see how the clean up is with water in the pan. If it's not any better then it may be a Weber Q for us also.

We have the older one like the picture RoyB posted. We mostly keep the legs folded and use it on the picnic table. We use it for all our cooking. Before a trip I line the water pan with foil and at the end of the trip I take out the foil and throw it away.

I removed the regulator and use a long hose to connect to the low pressure quick connect on my trailer. I think the newer ones have a different regulator setup so it may not be as simple with the new units.

For breakfast I love being able to do toast on the grill side and eggs and sausage on the griddle side.

I bought one over ten years ago,, We used it allot at first, it worked ok, I bought the extra griddle and the pot grate. replace the aluminum grills twice and finally got the cast iron grills.
Pros, It works and the griddle does its job.
Comes with side table and stand.
Cons,
The water tray is messy and clean up sucks!
The aluminum grates with teflon or ceramic coating get messy and are hard to clean!
The grill and stand are very bulky you need a large compartment to store it.
Its heavy!!
Tried to wrap the water try in aluminum foil,, doesnt work well still a mess!

I still have it, its at home on the patio,,rarely use it.

Lots of working room with the two work sides...

Comes with roller tote... Everything you see here fits into the pull tote...

Never had any tipping over issues...

Also love the idea with 1LB propane canisters... My backup heater uses same canisters so i always have six around for my trips...

I had one sold it's a POS IMHO burnt everything. Bought a Weber Q love it

I had one for about 3 years.
Pro's has built in stand, fairly easy to clean. In general does a decent job.
Lots of accessories available including nice storage bag.

Con: Grill may not get hot enough, especially if there is a breeze and temps are cool.
Cooking breakfast on cool mornings could be a challenge using griddle.
