route from Aubrey TX to Williston FL

Would appreciate some advice from locals please on our upcoming trip from Aubrey TX (north of Ft Worth) to Williston Florida.

We like to travel no more than 3 hours a day. Would appreciate advice on most direct route avoiding cities. Would like some suggestions on CGs along the way. Some of the CGs we stayed on our trip here had loud traffic noise at night. I guess there is a trade off for convenience and noise along I-10.

Thank you all again;)

  • From I-10, I would take us 19 to 19/98/27 south to alt 27 on the south end of Chiefland to Williston. If your doing corp parks, about 3 hours from Williston, there is the town of Chatahoochee near Eastbank cg on Ga. state line. A few towns along the way (not counting Tallahassee) but nice drive.

My friend BB is exactly right about the traffic, but maybe this will be your best route. I do have a suggestion about your first night, assuming that you really want to keep your drive around 3 hours.

You could stay on 380 as BB has suggested, but my alternate would be for you to stay straight east on I-30 at Greenville; turn off at Mt. Pleasant on TX 49 to Daingerfield, then come up US 259 to Ore City (where we live!) then take FM 450 to FM 726 to the dam at Lake 'o the Pines. There are two fine COE parks. The first you will come to by this route is Brushy Creek. That would be about 3 hours and 20 minutes depending on that traffic at the beginning.

From there you could drop on down to I-20. The best route would be FM 3001 to FM 1997 to the bypass around Marshall, TX to US 80 to intersection with I-20 between Scottsville and Waskom.

The only alternative within your desired ETE would be Hitchin Post RV near Hallsville, TX just off I-20. Almost the same time.

If you should decide to take the COE alternative, it would be nice to stay over a day and visit the historic town of Jefferson, TX, a short drive from Brushy Creek. If you do decide to come this way, let me know and maybe we can plan a visit.

This is perfect, thank you so much! If and more likely, when, we go this way, we will certainly PM you! Thank you for the local info, it is always invaluable to have local people chime in and recommend CGs!

Yes, we do like to stay under 3 hrs travel. More due to back issues and my older, ummmm, cat who does not like to travel!

Thank you all so much, love this website and members!

Start late morning or mid day and it should not be too bad. You could go north from Aubrey to US 82 east to US 69, but that would be so far out of the way, you would be much faster on US 380 even with the traffic lights.

Take US 69 at Greenville south to I-20 just south of Lindale. Mostly 2 lane, but a good road with little traffic. Watch your speed in the small towns along the way. Then take I-20 east to Shreveport. From Shreveport I would probably take I-49 down to I-10 east and use I-12 to by pass New Orleans. But maybe someone can chime in with better options to get from I-20 to I-10 while bypassing cities.

Can't help with RV parks along the way.

Exactly the info we need, thank you so much!

  • Williston crossing RV Resort has to be your destination. Go over to cedar key and enjoy some of tony's clam chowder.

I cant help with directions, we travel main highways. before rush hours and after.
