Route Info HWY 26 (Oregon)

I will be taking a trip to the Madras, Oregon area later in the year. During the route planning I see that the portion of the route from Boise will be on HWY 26. I will be towing a 39' Fifth wheel. Will the road present much of a problem? Thanks for your input.

Beautiful drive. Kind of slow is some spots but well worth it.
If you have the time, plan to spend a few hours at the cam wah chang pharmacy in John Day. Also the fossil beds are worth a visit. What time of year?
As an alternative, hwy20 is a bit farther south and offers distinctly different scenery

What Donn said, It's a nice drive if their is no snow or ice on the roads, if so 20 may be better If you have time their is a lot of nice things to see like Donn said.
  • You will be just fine on 26. We've been over that route several times.
