Routing: Florida City area to Everglades/Flamingo

We have reservations for Flamingo Campground at Everglades NP. I'm looking for advice from experienced travelers who have navigated through the Florida City area to get to the park. I have been through Florida City in a non-towing situation. My recall is some intersections are congested. (imagine that in Florida) We have a 38 ft. fifth wheel. The itinerary will start from the Naples area so we tentatively plan to approach the Florida City area by coming in on Tamiami Trail/US 41 to FL 997/Krome Ave. I would appreciate any directions and insight one can share.
  • Follow Krome to W. Palm Drive in Florida City. Turn west (R) on to W. Palm Drive till you get to "Robert is Here Fruit Stand" where you'll make a left (south) on to County Road #9336. Follow 9336 into the park entrance and on down to Flamingo.

    Robert is Here

Load up on insect repellent - you're going to need it!
  • IIRC, not a lot of places to stop with a big rig along 41 if need be.
Personally, I would take I-75 to US 27 and then south.
