We live in the Taunton area and have made this run a few times. We ran I84 to I691 to local CT route 66 through Middletown. Pick up Rt 9 south to I 95 north. Once in Rhode Island make your way to Rt 1 north. You will be right on the shoreline. There is a great RV Camp, called Fisherman's State Park in Galilee RI (a small fishing village) and beach. This park opens on May 18 I believe. From here you are about 1 1/2 hours easy drive from Taunton. You are also right in the Jamestown and Newport RI tourist/scenic areas. The drive from the north of the Delaware Water Gap to Southern RI will take you about 6/7 hours. And Yes there is a big construction site on I84 in Waterbury CT that is a pain. However if you can get that drive behind you. You can hang around in Jamestown, Newport (the Ocean drive is great) and Narragansett for a day and a half enjoying the beautiful ocean scenery and still be well within easy driving distance to Taunton.
