Seattle, WA on I90 towards Yellowstone

The whole circle one 101 around the Olympic peninsula would take a few days but is a do not miss,From flat sand beach's to steep gravel, great camp grounds all along, to sand stone and all kinds of wild creatures, the Stait of Juan DeFuca, Hurricane Ridge(there is a grat camp ground up the hill) and then Hoods Canal with good camp Grounds. Mt St Helens as is Mt Rainier are both good views. Depending on how long you drive a day there are camp grounds between Snoqualmie Pass and Cle Elum that are forested ny lakes and rivers. I would also stay away from Seattle with the RV, but it also has the Flight museum and Pike Place Market, great. I also as above use the 512 167 18 to 90, a bit of truck traffic but better than 90 5 route.

Or before you get to Tacoma, take Hwy 512 towards Puyallup and follow it to 167 and go to the right on 167. Take it to Hwy 18 East. 18 will take you right to I 90 with real easy access. A local shortcut and you miss the crazy traffic in Seattle which is horrid.

Well headed East from Ryegrass flats to Vantage is 10 miles of steady 5 to 6 percent down grade, best have a good working exhaust brake.

Thanks, exactly the type of input travelers want to know. We hope to stay somewhere out of town. We'll make long day trips to do things without pulling the fiver. I'll check this all, thanks.

Well, IMHO the only two points of interest would be Mt Rainer and Mt St Helens. Mt St Helens can be a long day drive around. Mt Rainer? Not sure,,never visited it. Seattle traffic is probsbly the worst traffic you can encounter almost all day. Mostly 6 freeway lanes packed with cars all in a hurry. And you will definitely be in it to get from I5 to I90. Personally I think you would be wiser to take 395 north, and if you want to visit the two mountains, enter from the east side, do the visits and exit the same way. We'll actually be coming from Iowa, mostly on I80 and then will be on I84 to Portland, that's the basics. No reason to go to Portland or Seattle other than because we've not been there before! LOL However, it will be the surrounding area mostly we'll want to see, not the cities. The typical hiking trails, waterfalls, ocean, scenery. Just going to do the tourist thing this trip.
