Thanks for all of the input -- my initial impressions are unfortunately confirmed. We will camp lower down and then drive to the trailheads for day hikes. The other issue is that on the logging roads, my trailer (although very small) is still a liability. It is tough to back up for any significant distance, and there is the slight risk of what they call "sweepers," where the logs hanging off the back of a logging truck tend to sweep a wide arc on curving roads, sometimes hitting vehicles on the other side of the road.
