There is a series of books called BackRoads http://www.backroadmapbooks.com/main/index.html. There are regional editions and they are updated fairly often. However as the back roads are maintained by industry, they are never completely up to date.
In BC Forestry, companies often manage campgrounds in lovely locations with limited services (no hook-ups, perhaps no running water). Most are indicated in the Back Roads Books.
