Although we are normally in the RV we did stay at the HI Express in Raton a few years ago and it was fine. There are several others there also. Check Expedia.com or Travelocity.com for ratings.
Clayton, NM and Dalhart, TX both have several hotels you might check also if you want to drive a little farther than Raton.
