Spanish Fork Utah

Headed to Moab. Has anyone taken hwy 89 out of Spanish Fork, Utah then, hwy 6 and 191 to Green River? Was hoping to get off interstate but don't want to get too far out away from gas stations etc.
Thanks

  • Thanks for returning and giving an update. Wish others would do that!!!
  • I've been towing that route for years. When the weather turns cold up here in the SLC area we often head to Moab to escape the temperature inversions and see the sky for a few days. Except for when it's actually snowing, the route is even pretty good in the winter. No gas station issues.
  • It's a good route with a RV. Have a good trip...perfect time to be in Moab!
  • Drive that route all the time to go to Moab. As mentioned, plenty of fuel at Spanish Fork, Price/Wellington, and Green River.

Watch your downhill speed as you approach Price, there are a couple 'gotcha' corners that can sneak up on you.
  • Plenty of fuel stops, like at Price and at Green River.

However, 89 through Provo and Springville is city traffic, stop and go. For me, it's easier to continue south a bit on I-15 down to the intersection with US6.
  • Very good 2 lane road with a fair amount of truck traffic. But there is adequate passing lanes.
  • We drove that combination once going the opposite direction. No problems whatsoever - good roads all the way.
