St Louis to Gulf Shores

Hey gang it looks like I have 2 choices headed out of Missouri to Gulf Shores, I can stay on Hwy 55 to 35 to 19 to Meridian MS then hit Hwy 45 into Gulf Shores or I can take 55 to 412 to Jackson TN to 45 thru Tupelo MS to Gulf Shores? Just looking for the best roads and routes. Thanks!
  • I would take 45. Less traffic and nice roads all the way. Send me a message for more info.

  • We take 45 when we go. In Mobile, take a look at using Hwy 90 and the bridge that is north of the Hwy 10 tunnel. We do not care for the downtown traffic.
  • I have gone I55 to Jackson and then hwy 49 to Hattiesburg then hwy 98 to Lucedale and then hwy 63 south to I10. Exit I10 at mile marker 49 and go south to Gulf Shores.
  • Take 55 to 412 to Jackson, Tn, then 45 S through Tupelo to Mobile. You will have about 45 miles of two lane once you cross over into Al but it's good road, just difficult to pass or be passed. From 45 take the Saraland 158 exit to I65. Take I 165 exit and take the truck route across the bridge instead of using the tunnel. I think this is Exit 9, follow signs. You will rejoin I10 just past the battleship. Continue on to the Gulf Shores exit. I just travelled this route from Amory,, MS in late May, no road construction, few trucks, great road.
  • One more. I suggest bypassing the Loxley exit, go another 8-10 miles and take the next exit off I-10. It is the Beach Express, you miss many red lights and all the traffic.
