Just my 2 cents here, I have had my travel trailer for 33+ years, and now I can't even remember who told me this. But when I purchased my trailer, a old boy told me it should have a "ground strap on it"? was'nt sure what he meant, so I went to the local Napa here and they had one, it was maybe 2' long and 1" wide or so and had a hole in it on one end of it for bolt type mount, when I got it I did take a ohmmeter to it and sure enough it was pretty low ohms and would conduct electricity thru it. The only thing I could figure was it would discharge any static electricity built up from the tires, and ground it to the roadway. When I went to install it there was a bracket for it under the side of the frame front RH corner to bolt it on. I am sure these bracket's are long gone with the "buy a new one society". Not sure if it is a must have but it can't hurt anything? My 2 cent's Bob in Oregon
