Summertime Trips ----- Where?

These are great locations, but are hot and very humid in the summer. However, this summer it has rained just about everyday since the middle of May. Not great camping weather.

Michigan's Upper Peninsula is usually cool in the summer. You can take a dip into Lake Superior if you're still too warm. There was still some ice in the lake a week or two ago. Or you can take a ride around Lake Superior and visit our friends from Canada while you're at it.

We are planning a trip to Lake City, CO, from Central Texas. Is there a route that you like best. We have camped locally with a 37 ft 5th wheeler for a couple of years, but never made trips to the mountains. I have heard that the descent into Lake City is a bit harry.

These women are always trying to spoil your fun, aren’t they?:B I’m old, too, and I get the same thing when I want to make a hunting trip. I don’t like heat either in spite of the fact I live in Phoenix. I don’t even have ac on my TT because I don’t want to camp anywhere where it’s hot. If I go back east in the summer I may have to add it, though, but a better alternative would be to do that in the fall.

So my summer trips are always to the mountains. 5000’ is about my minimum and I prefer over 7000’. That’s not hard to do in the mountains in AZ or NM, or further north. If I’m not going a long distance I’ll probably be in one or the other, or in SW CO and maybe Utah. I don’t do towns, but if I were to pick ones in the region I’d say Flagstaff and Showlow in AZ, Raton and Chama in NM, Durango/Silverton in CO, and Logan, UT.

If you try Lake City, Colorado, you'll feel like you're at home. A lot of folks from Texas seem to camp there during the summer. ANYWHERE in southwest Colorado is great to me. Durango/Pagosa Springs area, Ouray, Gunnison area, Buena Vista/Salida area,Glenwood Springs/Basalt area. Summers are not hot and you can't beat the beautiful scenery. Good luck with your choice.

Lake George Region of the Adirondack Mountains. The Adirondacks are a small bit of Heaven right here on earth.

we go to Jackson WY area.
as stated, North Rim of Grand Canyon is good.
Capitol Reef/Torrey, UT is ok, too.
Buena Vista CO is good.
Taos NM area should be good..have not been there to stay.

The North Rim of the Grand Canyon is fairly cool and not terribly far from Texas. Lots of boondocking out there, too.
