Many..most people that cross often in either direction, will avoid any hassles by leaving all eadibles behind and shopping once they are clear of customs. Yes..butter, bread and coffee..those are fine..but after that, it's all a******shoot. Pet foods going south...meats veggies in both directions..and the items not allowed can chnage seemingly daily. Garlic and oinons are a huge target. I mean..who doesn't have a head of garlc around? or an onion. And all of thse lead to the 'eye'...so, if you have no grub on board..it is so easy to be able to say that. And yes, CDN stuff is more expensive. And we get that..why you want to shop at home..so..it's up to the crosser.
