As stated, don't give them a list and don't open your mouth until you're asked a question. Then answer it in one word, if possible. Don't volunteer information. They'll ask you what they want to know.
Go easy on the refrigerator items and produce. There are plenty of stores to shop once you get across. That's the easiest.
